about

Good data design comes down to three things:
audience, purpose and context.

Not technology.

I’m T. from Data Rocks. I work on the decisions that come before you think about charts and dashboards. I do this by asking the difficult questions: who is it for? What is it meant to change? Is this thing even worth building at all?

I built dashboards for more than a decade. I don’t anymore. I’ve made enough of them to know that the building is not the hardest piece. And that a well-made thing answering the wrong questions is still the wrong thing to build.

I like pie charts.

Data Visualisation Self-Portrait, painted by Thabata Romanowski in ink and watercolours. It depicts several abstract shapes and a colourful background. Each shapes represents a part of her life and who she is.
